Okay, strange title, but here's the skinny. A while back on Yahoo, I read a story about a Japan-Only DS game called Love Plus which some have claimed took the idea of virtual dating too far. I mean, the virtual girlfriend you had would demand things that a real life GF would ask for, whispering sweet nothings in her ear, dates, kisses, the works. What made matters worse was that many wives of the men playing this were outraged since their husbands were basically "cheating" on them with these virtual girls.
Now, there's an update to that story. Just recently I found a new article from Yahoo Games that mentions one Japanese man marrying his virtual girlfriend... FOR REAL!!! That's right, a man had an actual wedding ceremony for him and his virtual girl. How does that work? I mean the preacher has to feel weird having to say "By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and game-wife." Seriously, just reading this made me lose even more faith in humanity than I had lost before.
